Resolutions of the Zimbabwe People's Charter commemorations,
held in Bulawayo
Committee
of the Peoples Charter (CPC)
March 17, 2012
We the undersigned
organizations, having met in Bulawayo on the 17th of March, conscious
of the fact that it is imperative to have a Peoples Charter that
will serve as a reference point, and acknowledging the fact that
this document has been lying dormant since February 2008, and after
committing and recommitting ourselves the Peoples Charter, do hereby
resolve the following:
- That members
here present revive the principles outlined in the Peoples
Charter, and also to defend and respect it through mobilization
around the Charter and creating awareness of the Charter.
- That members
here present include the Peoples Charter in their organizations
programs, specifically by making sure the ZPC informs project
design, project cycle and monitoring.
- To engage
relevant stakeholders who comprise of but are not limited to political
parties, the government, churches etc, so as to make them aware
of the provisions of the Peoples Charter.
- To unequivocally
denounce and refute any political processes and/or decisions that
goes against the provisions of the ZPC.
- To include,
the recommitment to the Peoples Charter at the Civil Society Organizations
stakeholders meeting to be held soon.
- In pursuit
of the realization of the principles outlined in the Charter,
the members here present do hereby endorse the Committee of the
Peoples Charter, Bulawayo Chapter steering committee, to undertake
activities that raise awareness of the provisions of the Peoples
Charter, monitor adherence and commitment to the Charter and to
also conduct any other activities that seek to champion the ideals
of the ZPC.
- That the
steering committee organize another meeting, on the 25th of May
2012, that will be meant to raise the awareness of the people
towards the Peoples Charter and to critically evaluate the government
activities against the Peoples Charter.
