Youth 2K intends to make a meaningful contribution in the realisation
of sustainable development in Southern Africa, enhancing environmental
awareness and increasing youth participation, through advocacy,
networking and research on issues that affect the livelihoods of
people.
EY2K is listed
under the United Nations Environment Programme for Youth Organisations
in Kenya.
EY2K was enlisted
to the NEPAD Secretariat of Zimbabwe as a stakeholder of the national
awareness programme.
EY2K is participating
in the National Environment Policy development process for Zimbabwe
under the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, linked to that Policy,
EY2K is proposing to embark on a National Environment Youth Policy.
EY2K proposes
to facilitate the creation of WSSD National Youth Committees that
will spearhead Youth involvement in the WSSD Process.
EY2K has also
written a proposal for a project on awareness raising on environment
protection called the Environment High School Quiz. With the necessary
funding this project will facilitate youth participation.
EY2K is co-ordinating
the Global Youth Service Day to celebrate the youths of the world
who have done volunteeer work that has changed their communities.
EY2K is currently
carrying out feasibility studies for Environment Information Resource
Centre and Career Guidance projects.
