Victoria Falls councillor arrested on spurious charges

Paulos Chilewete, councillor for ward 5 in Victoria Falls was arrested on Thursday on spurious assault allegations. Police in Victoria Falls are accusing Councillor Chilewete of assaulting Victoria Falls mayor, Nkosinathi Jiyane at a development meeting at the Victoria Falls Community Hall on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by hundreds of Victoria Falls residents. The police are looking for other four councillors, Bernard Nyamande of ward 1, Standford Mwela, ward 2, Nkululeko Nyoni, ward 9 and Taruvinga Makoti, ward 10. Councillor Chilewete is still in police custody at Victoria Falls Police Station.
