Farewell, our hero for real change
Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)
September 17, 2011

The MDC is deeply saddened at the loss of yet another gallant fighter for real change, Mr Sicino Dube, the former Midlands South provincial chairperson.

Mr Dube died on Thursday after a short illness at Masase Hospital in Mberengwa. He will be buried in his rural home in ward 26, Mberengwa South on Sunday, 18 September 2011

Mr Dube was elected the provincial vice chairperson between 2000 and 2005 before he was elected as the chairperson in 2006. He stood by the MDC during the most difficult phases of its spilt in October 2005 holding fort and ensuring that the party remained strong and vibrant in the province. At the time of his death, he had been elected into the MDC council of elders.

He is survived by his two wives, 11 children and several grandchildren.

The Midlands South province and the MDC at large, is at a loss of a dedicated, passionate and courageous leader whose ideals where to see a new and better Zimbabwe for all people.

Meanwhile, another MDC member has been laid to rest in Masvingo Province.

Mr Green Gwatinyanya, the former Masvingo Central district chairperson passed away at Morgenster Hospital on Thursday. The MDC mourns with his family at this time of grief.

Gwatinyanya was one of the MDC activists who were brutally assaulted by Zanu PF thugs in Masvingo Province in 2005. Internal fractures and injuries he sustained then did not fully heal.

He was laid to rest today at his homestead in Masvingo Central.

The MDC mourns with the families of the deceased and pledges to continue with the fight for democracy until real change is experienced in Zimbabwe.
