9 MDC members remanded in custody

The nine MDC members who were arrested at the party's headquarters, Harvest House last week have been remanded in custody to tomorrow for their bail application.

They are facing forged public violence charges.

Last week, heavily armed anti-riot police stormed Harvest House and arrested several MDC members manning the party's regalia shop.

One of those arrested last week, Barnabas Mwanaka could not be brought to court by the police today as he is hospitalised at a Harare hospital after the police broke his right leg during the arrest.

Mwanaka, 27, is under heavy police guard and people including family members are being barred from visiting him.
